AI in Healthcare

Hi there! My name is Triny Ravindran and I am a junior at Mira Loma High School. Some of my favorite hobbies include playing piano, drawing, tennis, debate, and of course, amateur programming. The reason why I study artificial intelligence is because I have always found it fascinating creating a program whose capabilities are only limited by your own imagination. That is why I feel a pertinent subject to address in the coming years with AI is to apply it to medicine.

My AI scholars experience was definitely very enjoyable. I got to work with like minded people about many different areas in AI, whether it be cell biopsies or estimating the best deal value of a car using regression modeling. The true highlight for me was our project, which was to write a program which can deduce the origin of a Sars Cov-2 strand based on its genetic make up. I really enjoyed this project because for one, it was pertinent to healthcare, but also since I felt it has high significance given the current state of our world today, as we try to discover the causes and underlying information about viruses.

My blog will be mainly focusing on the applications of AI to healthcare, something which is happening more often in the present. In the coming decade, AI is expected to make big leaps and bounds in medicine, from simple patient information organization to actually making a diagnosis. I would definitely like to get a jump start and analyze the different ways in which researchers try to find more implications for AI in healthcare, and I plan on reporting my findings in my blog. The general target audience would be pretty much anyone who is either interested in medicine (e.g maybe planning on pursuing a career in the healthcare field one day,) or in the robotics/AI in general. They make an interesting combination and I can’t wait to highlight all these intriguing interactions in this blog!
